Having Something to Look Forward to

I am adamant that this year we will have a few things to look forward to. The last few years we have been on pause. Its like our life has been buffering. No more I say. There will be some positive mental attitude going on here. Come hell or high water I will make it happen. We need it or it is going to be a really long year. That and I may lose the last few marbles I have. Don’t get in my way and say no. It won’t be pretty and the language will be unladylike.

At this moment there are going to be limitations as we are still waiting for information from consultants but I have a plan there too. I am not going to worry about having to reschedule appointments. They keep getting postponed anyway. But I digress. So what are we going to plan? First off we are going to get out for meals more often. It will be last minute bookings but we will do this. There are some local places we have yet to try. May even go a little further afield and stay over the night. Lets live dangerously.

I would love to book an exotic holiday but as I am not sure about putting hubby on a plane until the cardiologist says its ok to do so; so it looks like it will be a cruise from the UK. Can’t wait to tell the boss I am taking more than two days off at one go. I’ve not done that for years. Oh will they manage without me? I’d love to leave the mobile at home. Don’t tell him. Its our secret until I have something booked.

Now I would love to do a show or a concert but I fear a trip to London would just be too much for hubby. There is a local place at the other end of the town that does productions. We haven’t been there for years. Maybe an alternative option. Lets hope they have something I can entice him with.

My husband is a keen fisherman but that is something he has not done for a long time. I don’t think he is up to sleeping by a lake in a bed chair these days but I would love to arrange a stay in a cabin on a lake where he can fish. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I can read, knit or even write while he is fishing. Sounds like heaven.

Sure some of this is going to take some planning and research but it will be worth it. We should be living the best we can while he is still able. Not too much to ask is it? My trips will be booked via the local travel agent I think, just so I make sure we don’t miss booking any assistance we can get. Hopefully they will have a better idea than me. They may have recommendations that will make the trip even better. Plus its been a long time since I booked anything. I am bound to miss something important. Regulations have changed so much.

I suppose I should ask husband what he would like to do. I am pretty sure I know the answer. Long haul exotic holiday, the one I promised myself for that special birthday. He would go tomorrow and hang the consequences. If I can get the answers I want then he may get his wish as a Christmas gift. That is between me and you though. No letting it slip. Our little secret until later in the year but keep your fingers crossed for us.

Any of you on this journey too, plan something. Something that you have been putting off maybe. A special holiday. A trip to catch up with friends you haven’t seen for years. Do it while you can. We are all guilty of putting things off. Finding an excuse not to book that trip. Don’t! We have no idea how this journey progress. There are no guarantees at how quickly it will go. I’m kicking myself for doing that myself the last two years. This year will be different and with any luck we will make up for it. We’ve got this. We deserve this. Oh and most importantly; don’t feel guilty. Enjoy! E x
