The Year that was

Well what can I say about 2025? Was it a wash out? Did the year go the way I’d hoped? No, but then it’s my life, and nothing goes the way I want it to. We didn’t get our holiday. In fact I hardly had any time off. It has been a hard slog at some points. With some medical departments we have come full circle and are no further forward which is depressing. I don’t want to dwell on that. I want to look for the plus points of the year.

Personally, I think I have grown as a person. Not in height, I’m afraid the load on my shoulders is making me shorter! Gravity is winning the battle. Things that would have got me spitting feathers previously I’ve risen above. People that stress me out I have put even more distance between us and not lost as much sleep about as I thought I would. Don’t get me wrong some I have stepped back from and it has hurt but self preservation is more important.

I ‘ve faced some things that have been very hard for me personally. You can’t help it when things, that others don’t blink over, cause you to violently shake, feel physically sick and make you want to hide. The anxiety and panic attacks I’ve kept to myself, just because I’m fed up with people telling me I’m being stupid. I know that, but you telling me that isn’t helping. Realistically I should be stick thin.

There have been quite a few trips outside my comfort zone. My ability to deal with them is improving and the internal voice telling me I’m not good enough is not as loud as it used to be so I’ll take that as a massive win. Go me! There is still a long way to go but I have taken a massive stride this year.

HAppy new year

School has also been in session a lot the later half of the year. There has been a lot of situations have required me having my nose in books and learning new skills. Well my last form teacher did give me a badge that said ‘I is a student.’ She told me that I could fight it all I wanted but I would always have the urge to learn. Boy was she right. I wish I could tell her that. She saw straight through me.

In the very later stages of this year I seem to have found this inner calm. I can’t say how or why. Sure there are the odd things that can set me off but on the whole I am taking things in my stride. Long may it last because I really don’t like being a stress head. Its not a good look.

Husband is just getting about and is still as nutty as me, the cold and damp is sure causing him problems. The allotment has kept him motivated and although it was an odd growing year we got a lot of fresh supplies. Some items have already been planted for next year and the seeds have been purchased, ready to go. We haven’t got out and about as much as we would have liked but it is what it is.

So 2025 may not have been the year we had hoped for but it hasn’t been a total disaster either. We have made some progress in certain areas. Made some decisions about what we want going forward with others. Those are fights for a little down the line. Now we wait to see what 2026 throws at us. I hope it is kind. All that is left for me to do is to wish you all a very Happy New Year. We did good and we will again next year. You guys rock. Ex.
